Frequently asked questions
Does it work with older DeWalt 20V batteries I already own?
Yes, fully backward compatible with any DeWalt 20V MAX battery, including the older 1.5Ah and 5.0Ah packs. The included batteries here are 2.0Ah, and FlexVolt and PowerStack batteries also drop right in for longer runtime.
Is this a hammer drill?
No. The DCD800 is a drill/driver, not a hammer drill. For drilling into brick, concrete, or masonry, look at the DCD805 (the hammer-drill sibling on the same XR platform).
What's the difference between this DCD800D2 kit and the DCD800E2 kit?
The D2 ships with two 2.0Ah batteries; the E2 ships with two 1.7Ah PowerStack compact batteries which are physically smaller and lighter. The drill itself is identical. Choose D2 for max capacity, E2 if you want the lightest in-hand feel.
Will it drive long lag screws into framing lumber?
Yes, in low gear (the 0 to 650 RPM range) the brushless motor delivers strong torque for lags, deck screws, and structural fasteners. For very long lags above 4 inches, an impact driver is faster and easier on your wrist, but the DCD800 will get the job done.
