The PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Pro Legacy is an automatic self-cleaning cat litter box that uses disposable trays pre-filled with silica-gel crystal litter. After your cat exits the box, a motion sensor triggers a programmable timer (5, 10, or 20 minutes) and a rake sweeps waste into a covered compartment. Frequently asked questions
How often do I need to change the tray?
For a one-cat home, a single tray lasts 20 to 30 days. Two cats cuts that to about 10 to 15 days. With three or more cats, the brand recommends running two units.
Will my cat actually use it?
Most cats transition within a few days, especially if you put some of their current litter on top of the crystals for the first week. Some cats are spooked by the rake mechanism; the timer delay (up to 20 minutes after they leave) helps with that.
Can kittens use it?
PetSafe recommends waiting until kittens are at least 6 months old before transitioning them to the Crystal Pro. The crystals and the rake mechanism are not designed for kitten-size waste.
How loud is the auto-cleaning cycle?
Quieter than most automatic boxes; the rake moves slowly and the motor hum is subtle. Loud enough to hear in a small room, not loud enough to wake a sleeper in another room.
