PRO-SPIN sells these as a set of two USAPA approved graphite carbon fiber paddles, which is the practical unit for pickleball since you cannot play without a second paddle. USAPA approval matters if you ever enter league or tournament play, where non-approved paddles are disallowed. Each paddle uses a multi-layer carbon face, which grips the ball longer at contact and generates more spin than a smooth composite surface, and a cushioned sweat-absorbing grip. The set is the standard on-ramp purchase: two paddles and balls rather than buying one paddle and discovering you still cannot play. Best fit: new and intermediate players, and anyone who keeps borrowing paddles at the court.
Pros
- Set of two, which is the minimum needed to actually play
- USAPA approved, so they are legal for league and tournament play
- Multi-layer carbon face grips the ball longer and generates more spin than smooth composite
- Cushioned sweat-absorbing grip holds up over long sessions
Cons
- Carbon faces wear smoother with heavy play, and that spin advantage fades over a season of frequent use
Frequently asked questions
Are these legal for tournament play?
Yes, they are USAPA approved, which is the standard required for sanctioned league and tournament play.
How many paddles come in the set?
Two paddles, plus balls and a carry case as part of the complete set.
Why does a carbon face matter versus a cheaper composite?
A textured carbon surface holds the ball fractionally longer at contact, which lets you impart more spin. Smooth composite faces slide more and produce a flatter ball.
Are these suitable for a complete beginner?
Yes. They are lightweight with a cushioned grip, which suits new players, and the USAPA approval means you will not need to replace them when you join organized play.
