This TESSAN two-pack converts a US plug to the Type C round-pin standard used across most of continental Europe, and each adapter adds a grounded AC outlet plus three USB ports so one wall socket runs four devices. It is an adapter, not a converter, which means it changes the plug shape but not the voltage, so it suits the dual-voltage electronics most people travel with: phone and laptop chargers, camera batteries, electric shavers. Coverage includes France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal and most of the EU, plus much of South America and parts of Asia that use the same round pins. Best fit: anyone heading to Europe who has counted the hotel outlets and come up short.
Pros
- Each adapter adds an AC outlet plus three USB ports, so one socket runs four devices
- Comes as a two-pack, so travel partners are not sharing a single adapter
- Compact enough to leave in a carry-on pocket rather than packing around
- Works across most of the EU plus much of South America on the same Type C pins
Cons
- It converts plug shape only, not voltage, so single-voltage 110V items like some hair tools and curling irons can be damaged
Frequently asked questions
Will this work in the UK or Ireland?
No. The UK and Ireland use the three rectangular-pin Type G plug. This adapter is Type C round pins, which covers most of continental Europe but not Britain.
Can I use my hair dryer or curling iron with it?
Only if the tool is dual voltage, marked 100 to 240V on its label. This is an adapter, not a voltage converter, so a 110V-only heat tool plugged into 230V European power can be destroyed or start a fire.
Does it charge a laptop?
Yes. Plug your normal laptop charger into the AC outlet on the adapter. Nearly every laptop charger made in the last decade is dual voltage.
Is it grounded?
The AC outlet accepts grounded US plugs, but Type C is an ungrounded standard, so the ground pin is not carried through to the wall. Use a grounded adapter type if you need a true earth connection.
