The Dexas MudBuster is a portable paw washer: a BPA-free plastic cup lined with soft silicone bristles. You add a few inches of water, insert one paw, twist the cup a couple of times, and lift the paw out to dab dry. The bristles flex around the pad and between the toes, which is where mud actually collects. The lid seals so you can keep it by the back door or in the car trunk with water already in it, and the bristle insert unrolls for rinsing. The Large size fits paws 2.5 to 3.5 inches wide; Medium and Small/Petite versions cover smaller dogs. Best fit: rainy-climate dog owners, post-hike cleanup, and anyone whose dog crosses a light-colored floor on the way in.
Pros
- Cleans between the toe pads, which a towel wipe never reaches
- Seals shut so you can leave it filled by the door or in the trunk
- Silicone bristles are soft enough that most dogs tolerate it without a fight
- Bristle insert pulls out and unrolls, so it actually gets clean instead of growing a smell
Cons
- You still have to towel the paw dry afterward, so it is a two-step job, not a one-step one
Frequently asked questions
Which size do I need for my dog?
Large fits paws 2.5 to 3.5 inches wide and suits large and extra-large breeds. Medium suits mid-size dogs and Small/Petite suits little dogs. Measure the paw at its widest with the dog standing.
Do you need soap, or just water?
Plain water handles ordinary mud. For heavy grease or salt, a drop of dog-safe shampoo works, but rinse the cup afterward so residue does not build on the bristles.
Will it hold water without leaking in a car?
The lid snaps on and holds water for transport. It is splash-resistant rather than fully watertight, so keep it upright in a footwell rather than on its side in a bag.
Does it work on a dog that hates having its paws touched?
It is often easier than towel-wiping because the dog only has to hold still briefly and the bristles are soft, but a dog with real paw sensitivity will still need desensitizing work first.
