The DV180 is a magnetic coupling that replaces the clamped connection between a dryer and its 4 inch wall vent. One half mounts to the wall duct, the other to the dryer, and the two snap together with magnets and pull apart by hand. The normal version of this job involves pulling the dryer out, reaching behind it with a screwdriver, and fighting a foil hose in a six-inch gap, which is why most people never clean their vent. Lint buildup in a dryer duct is a real fire cause, and this is the thing that makes clearing it a two-minute job instead of an afternoon. The magnets align on contact so the seal is square every time rather than kinked. Best fit: any laundry closet where the dryer is tight against a wall. The tradeoff is that it takes a one-time install with the dryer pulled out.

Pros

  • Snaps off by hand, so cleaning the vent stops being a screwdriver-and-flashlight job
  • Magnets self-align, so the duct seals square instead of kinking
  • Makes regular lint clearing realistic, which is a genuine fire risk reduction
  • Fits the standard 4 inch dryer duct used in most homes

Cons

  • Installing it is a one-time job that still requires pulling the dryer out and working behind it

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my dryer?

It fits the standard 4 inch round duct used on nearly all residential dryers, gas and electric. Measure your existing hose diameter to confirm before ordering.

Do the magnets hold well enough that it will not fall off?

Yes under normal use. The connection is designed to resist the airflow pressure of a running dryer while still separating with a firm hand pull.

Does it leak air or lint into the room?

It includes a seal flange at the joint. As with any duct connection, a proper install matters, so make sure both halves seat fully flat against their surfaces.

Is it safe for a gas dryer?

It is a vent duct connection, not a gas line, so it works with gas dryers. Follow local code and confirm a solid seal, since gas dryers vent combustion byproducts.
