The Schwinn IC4 is a magnetic-resistance indoor cycling bike built around a 40-pound flywheel, with 100 micro-adjustable resistance levels, dual-sided pedals (SPD clips on one side, toe cages on the other), and a backlit LCD console that displays cadence, time, distance, calories, RPM, and heart rate. Pros
- 100 micro-adjustable resistance levels are unusually fine-grained for sub-$1,000 bikes

- 40 lb perimeter-weighted flywheel feels smoother than most belt-drive bikes in this price range
- Dual-sided SPD plus toe-cage pedals means no $80 shoe purchase before you can ride
Cons
- Console is functional but plain, no touchscreen, you supply your own tablet on the swivel mount
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a JRNY subscription to use the bike?
No. The IC4 works without any subscription; it tracks your stats on the built-in console. JRNY, Peloton, Zwift, and any other Bluetooth FTMS app are optional and let you ride along with on-demand classes.
Will my regular cycling shoes work with the pedals?
Yes. The pedals are dual-sided: SPD clips on one side for cycling shoes and toe cages on the other for normal sneakers. You can switch mid-ride.
How loud is the bike during use?
It uses magnetic resistance, so there is no friction-pad noise. The bike itself runs almost silently; the only sound is the belt and your pedaling.
What is the maximum user weight and height?
The IC4 supports riders up to 330 pounds and accommodates heights from about 4 foot 11 to 6 foot 6 with the adjustable seat post and handlebar reach.
