The Osprey Talon 22 is a 22-liter ventilated daypack designed for fast-moving day hikes, peak bagging, mountain biking, and urban commuting. The harness rides on an adjustable-length BioStretch backpanel with the AirScape ridge mesh system, which keeps real airflow channels between your back and the pack on hot climbs. A continuous-wrap padded hipbelt with dual zippered pockets carries the load on your hips, and external attachments (Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole loops, a LidLock bike helmet clip, an ice ax loop) make it easy to switch between sports without repacking. Internal hydration sleeve accepts any 1.5 to 3L reservoir (sold separately). Backed by Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee for life.

Pros

  • AirScape backpanel keeps your back ventilated on hot climbs, actual mesh channels, not foam pretending to be airflow
  • Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole loop and LidLock helmet clip make it dual-use for hiking and biking
  • Dual-zip hipbelt pockets fit a phone in one and snacks in the other, no pack-removal mid-trail
  • Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee replaces the pack for life if anything fails

Cons

  • Pack body is fixed-volume, no roll-top, so once you hit 22L you're done. Day-hikers love it, overnight users will outgrow it.

Frequently asked questions

Does it come with a hydration reservoir?

No, the pack has an internal hydration sleeve and hose port, but the reservoir itself (Osprey Hydraulics or any 1.5–3L bladder) is sold separately.

Is the torso length adjustable?

Yes. The harness slides on a track and you can dial in the fit between roughly 16" and 21" of torso length, which is what makes the S/M and L/XL sizing work for most adults.

Will it fit a 13-inch laptop for commuting?

Yes, most reviewers fit 13" or 14" laptops in a sleeve inside the main compartment. There's no dedicated padded laptop pocket, so use a sleeve.

How does it compare to the Osprey Stratos 24?

The Talon 22 is lighter, more low-profile, and fits closer to the body, better for fast-moving day hikes. The Stratos 24 has a trampoline-style suspended mesh back for hot climates and slightly more capacity, but is heavier and bulkier.
