The FEIERDUN DS2 is an adjustable free weight set that converts between dumbbells, a barbell, kettlebells, push-up stands, and loose plates using a threaded connector bar. A single dumbbell adjusts from 6 lbs to 22.5 lbs on the 45 lb configuration, and the set is sold in 20, 30, 40, 45, 70, and 90 lb totals so you pick your ceiling up front. Plates are molded from high-density iron sand rather than loose fill, which is the difference between a quiet rep and a rattling one. The connector bar includes a 15mm foam sleeve for back squats and hip thrusts. Best fit: apartment and garage gyms where a full rack is not happening and one corner has to cover pressing, pulling, and loaded carries.
Pros
- Converts to barbell, kettlebell, and push-up stands without buying separate gear
- Iron-sand molded plates stay quiet instead of rattling on every rep
- Six weight totals from 20 to 90 lbs, so you buy the ceiling you actually need
- Foam sleeve on the connector bar makes squats and hip thrusts tolerable
Cons
- Spin-collar adjustment takes longer than a selectorized dial, so drop sets get slow
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to change the weight?
You unscrew the collar, add or remove plates, and screw it back down. Expect roughly 20 to 30 seconds per dumbbell. It is slower than a dial-style adjustable, which matters most if you superset or run drop sets.
Can I use these for barbell squats?
Yes. The connector bar joins both dumbbells into a barbell and includes a foam sleeve for your neck and shoulders. The maximum load is whatever set you bought, so the 90 lb set tops out at 90 lbs total.
Are the plates real iron or sand-filled plastic?
They are molded with high-density iron sand rather than loose river sand, so they do not shift or leak dust. They are not solid cast iron, which is why they are lighter per inch of diameter than gym plates.
Will these damage a hardwood or apartment floor?
The plates have a coated finish, but any adjustable dumbbell will mark a floor if dropped. Use a mat if you are lifting over hardwood or in an upstairs apartment.
