LUXGROVE Wood and Leather Furniture Repair Salve is a conditioning balm meant to reduce the visibility of surface scratches and scuffs on finished wood and on leather. It works by conditioning and darkening the exposed material inside a light scratch so the scratch stops catching light differently than the surface around it, which is why a scuff can effectively disappear without any filling or refinishing. That also defines its limit: it blends surface marks, it does not fill gouges that go through the finish into raw material. Listed surfaces include couches, car seats, tables, cabinets, doors, shoes, purses, and boots. Best fit: a leather sofa with cat scratches on the arm, a dining table with utensil marks, or boots that have gone dry and grey at the creases.

Pros

  • One tin covers both finished wood and leather, so it replaces two separate products
  • Conditions as it blends, which is what revives dry grey leather at the flex creases
  • Surface application with a cloth, no sanding, stripping, or refinishing step
  • Works on the awkward small stuff too: purse corners, boot creases, cabinet door edges

Cons

  • It blends surface scratches by conditioning them, so a deep gouge through the finish will darken but stay visible as a line

Frequently asked questions

Will it fix a deep scratch or just a surface scuff?

Surface scuffs and light scratches are where it works. A gouge that goes through the finish into raw wood or through the leather topcoat will darken and become less obvious, but it will not disappear. That gap is the main source of disappointed reviews.

Does it change the color of the surface?

It darkens slightly as it conditions, which is exactly how it hides a scratch. On very light or blonde wood and pale leather, test on a hidden spot first, since the darkening can read as a patch.

Can it be used on suede or nubuck?

No. It is a conditioning balm for finished leather and finished wood. On suede or nubuck it will mat and darken the nap permanently.

How often does it need reapplying?

On leather that flexes daily, such as a sofa seat or boot creases, reapplication every few months keeps it conditioned. On a table or cabinet the repair holds until the surface is scratched again.
