Choose coverage first: the road ahead only, or front and rear together. Then decide whether you need parking recording or access from away from the vehicle. Listed resolution and sensor names do not establish real-world video quality. Wi-Fi alone does not provide a cellular connection, and a supported storage maximum does not mean a card is included.
Budget for the whole installation: compatible storage, parking power, any optional polarizer and any remote service. A supercapacitor supports safe shutdown; it does not power all-night recording by itself. Follow the camera and vehicle instructions, install and configure while parked, check recordings after setup and export important clips. No camera here promises to capture every plate, impact or incident. Before ordering, confirm the exact variant, seller, package contents, current price and stock.
#1
Viofo A229 Pro 4K Dash Cam, Front and Rear
Consider the A229 Pro 2CH if you want front and rear coverage, GPS and a 2.4-inch screen without adding an external drive. Its listed recording modes are 4K30 at the front and 1440p30 at the rear, with HDR on both channels. It uses Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 and IMX675 sensors; those hardware specifications are not evidence of superior footage or plate readability. The linked two-camera kit includes a front polarizer. Budget separately for a compatible microSD card and the optional HK4 hardwire kit if you want parking recording. Compared with the A329S, the trade-off is the absence of 4K60 front recording and external SSD support. Its Wi-Fi connection is for local app use, not built-in cellular access. Manufacturer specifications checked October 27, 2026.
Manufacturer specifications#2
VIOFO A329S 2CH Front and Rear Dash Cam
The A329S 2CH is an option when 4K60 front recording or a larger local archive matters to your setup. It pairs a front camera with a 1440p30 rear camera, adds Wi-Fi 6 and supports an optional external SSD up to 4 TB. Front recording offers 4K60 with HDR off or 4K30 with HDR on; those modes do not run together. An SSD adds a drive, cable and power considerations. It also does not replace the microSD card needed for low-power or Hybrid wake-up recordings. The standard camera listing excludes the microSD card, SSD and parking hardwire kit. Parking functions depend on firmware, the power connection and a compatible hardwire kit; confirm the intended mode before buying. Choose the front/rear 2CH package, since other A329-family variants use different camera layouts. Manufacturer specifications checked October 27, 2026.

#3
VIOFO A119 Mini 2 Front Dash Cam
Choose the A119 Mini 2 when front-only coverage suits your needs and you want GPS, a small screen and local Wi-Fi transfers in one camera. It supports 1440p60 recording, with HDR operating at 30 fps. A higher frame rate and HDR are separate settings, not simultaneous benefits. Its main limitation is expansion: it does not support adding a rear camera. If you expect to want rear coverage later, compare a two-camera system before buying. The camera listing excludes the microSD card and HK4 parking hardwire kit, and a polarizer is optional. Check the manufacturer's compatible-card guidance as well as capacity; support for cards up to 512 GB does not mean storage comes in the box. Manufacturer specifications checked October 27, 2026.

Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3 — US Model
The Mini 3 suits a driver who places more weight on a small, screen-free camera than on 4K recording or built-in GPS. This front camera records 1080p with a 140-degree field of view and includes a polarizer. Viewing and setup use the Garmin Drive app. The US model is part 010-02899-00. The limitations are worth pricing into the installation: there is no internal GPS or built-in LTE, and compatible memory storage is separate. Remote features require a paid Vault plan and an active internet-connected Wi-Fi network. Parked operation also needs suitable continuous power. Do not confuse it with Garmin Dash Cam Live or assume that its local Wi-Fi connection provides access from anywhere. Check your phone, power source and service requirements before choosing it. Manufacturer specifications and manual checked October 27, 2026.
Manufacturer specifications#5
Thinkware U3000 Pro 2CH Front and Rear Dash Cam
Built-in radar and several parking modes are the reasons to consider the U3000 Pro 2CH. Its listed modes are front 4K30 or 1440p60 plus rear 1440p30, with GPS. Parking recording needs a suitable hardwire or OBD-II power connection. Check the exact retailer bundle for the memory card and cable it includes rather than assuming every package is identical. Remote Connected features add an optional LTE module and an active service plan. Live View, Remote Live View and Premium parking-impact Dual Save operations can reduce local SD recordings to QHD (2K). Connected network functions are off in RADAR Parking mode, so do not assume continuous remote access in every parking setting. The LTE module and optional cabin camera also cannot operate together. Choose the parking mode, recording priorities and accessories as one system. Manufacturer specifications and LTE/RADAR guidance checked October 27, 2026.
