    Manufacturer specifications

An automatic feeder does not need an app to serve breakfast. The more useful question is whether you can set—and change—the entire feeding schedule on the feeder itself. A Wi-Fi model that keeps dispensing after losing its connection is not necessarily a good choice if you never want to use an app.

This shortlist covers five hopper-style dispensers for scheduled dry-food meals. It does not compare refrigerated wet-food feeders, rotating meal trays, or microchip-controlled bowls: those solve different problems. These picks have on-device controls, but they do not tell your phone whether food arrived or whether the intended cat ate it.

How we chose

This is a specification-led comparison, not a hands-on test. We checked manufacturer documentation for programming, power, portion settings, food compatibility, and cleaning, then matched all five exact versions to Amazon US listing identifiers. For the PETLIBRO Air and Petory F01, we also visually inspected the manufacturer manuals to confirm complete on-device clock and meal programming. We did not measure dispensing accuracy, noise, resistance to determined cats, or long-term reliability. Prices, availability, customer ratings, and battery-life promises are not used to rank the products. Manufacturer documents were assessed on October 27–28, 2026, and the five Amazon US listing identities were rechecked on October 28. Retrieved retailer pages may be cached; these checks do not establish current sellers, stock or offers.

Before relying on any automatic feeder

Use your actual kibble during setup. Collect and weigh several dispenses, then check the total delivered across a day; equal volume settings do not imply equal food weight between recipes. Repeat that check after changing food. Treat a larger hopper as refill capacity, not permission to leave a cat unattended for its entire contents.

Watch the cat use the feeder, not just the motor run. These are open-bowl dispensers, so a second cat can take the first cat's meal. A splitter or two bowls cannot enforce individual diets. If that is your problem, choose a separate feeding arrangement rather than assuming a bigger dispenser solves it.

Finally, practice the power arrangement you plan to use and arrange in-person checks when away. Cat Mate explicitly recommends at least three days of supervised operation before unsupervised use, and periodic welfare checks. The best fit is the feeder whose limits match your routine—not the one with the largest tank.

  1. #1

PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed Automatic Feeder PFD00-14574

The PFD00-14574 is the strongest fit here when schedule flexibility matters more than a small hopper. PetSafe specifies up to 12 daily meals, scheduled in 15-minute increments, with settings from 1/8 cup to 4 cups, and a 24-cup reservoir. Its slow-feed setting spreads a meal over 15 minutes, but only works for meals larger than 1/8 cup. The conveyor accepts dry kibble up to 3/4 inch in diameter—not canned wet food. The purchasing catch is power: the standard package does not include the wall adapter or four D-cell alkaline batteries. If you add the compatible adapter and install batteries, the batteries provide backup during an outage. For cleaning, the conveyor needs hand washing rather than going into the dishwasher. Choose it if you want numerous scheduled feeding windows or the gradual-release option. Skip it if your intended individual serving is below its 1/8-cup setting. The exact listing checked is the standard single-bowl Amazon US listing, not an adapter or meal-splitter bundle.

  2. #2

PETLIBRO Granary 3L Automatic Cat Feeder, Black, PLAF005 — No Wi-Fi

Choose the PLAF005, not a similarly named Granary Wi-Fi or camera feeder. PETLIBRO classifies this version as non-Wi-Fi and lists six meals per day, 1–50 portions per meal, and approximately 20 ml per portion. Its supported dry-kibble diameter is 2–15 mm. A “portion” is a dispenser setting, not a guaranteed number of grams or a nutritional serving. The included adapter makes the intended setup straightforward, but add three alkaline D batteries for emergency backup. PETLIBRO recommends leaving it plugged in rather than depending on batteries as they run down. Cleaning is another distinction: only the stainless-steel bowl is dishwasher-safe; the other removable food-contact parts can be washed with water, while the electronic base should be wiped. This is a sensible fit for a single feeding station where six daily schedules are enough. Its smaller hopper means planning more frequent refills than with a large reservoir. The checked configuration is black, 3L, single bowl, Amazon US listing. Do not transfer these specifications to a different capacity or connected variant.

  3. #3

Cat Mate C3000 Automatic Dry Food Feeder, White, Model 347

The C3000, product 347, offers three independently sized timed meals and holds up to 6.5 pounds of dry food. That makes it a candidate for a routine built around a few set mealtimes, rather than the PetSafe's many separate schedule slots. It runs on four C-cell batteries. A separate frequent-feed mode distributes individual feed units between a chosen start and finish time; it is not the same as adding arbitrary timed meals. Portions must be calibrated to the food: the manual's example equates three units to roughly 30 grams, depending on food type. Its hopper, lid, bowl, and feeding mechanism are dishwasher-washable; wipe the base instead. Check that kibble is no larger than 16 mm. Skip this model if you specifically need four or more individually programmed meal times. The matched standard white feeder is Amazon US listing.

  4. #4

PETLIBRO Air PLAF008 Automatic Cat Feeder, Black 2L

The Air PLAF008 is the compact alternative when the Granary's nominal portion step is larger than you want. It holds 2L and supports six scheduled meals, with 1–16 units per meal at approximately 10.4ml per unit. Clock, meal times, and quantities are set behind its control-panel cover; no app is needed. These are volume settings, not measured nutritional servings. It accepts 2–15mm dry kibble and can run from its adapter or three alkaline D cells. With both installed, mains power is used while batteries provide an outage fallback. Only the stainless-steel bowl is dishwasher-safe; removable food-contact parts need separate cleaning and the electronic base must not be immersed. Choose it for smaller dispenser increments, not long unattended stretches: the 2L tank needs more frequent attention than larger hoppers. There is no dual-bowl attachment or cat-specific access control. The matched configuration is black, 2L, PLAF008, Amazon US listing. Ignore that listing's conflicting 3L detail field; the manufacturer manual specifies 2L.

  5. #5

Petory F01 Timed Automatic Cat Feeder, White Regular 4L

The Petory F01 adds a different scheduling option: a selectable delay between portions within a meal. Its manufacturer manual specifies six daily meals and 1–50 portions, nominally 10g each. Confirm the delay settings in the instructions supplied with your unit. It also documents the complete clock-and-meal setup using the feeder's own buttons. Because kibble changes the amount delivered, treat 10g as an approximate setting and weigh your own food. The 4L hopper accepts dry kibble 5–18mm across. Power comes through Type-C, with three alkaline D cells available for backup. The lid, hopper, bowl holder and steel bowl can be washed in the sink; do not submerge the electronic base or assume dishwasher compatibility. Choose it if the between-portion timing is useful and your kibble meets its size range. It still dispenses into an open bowl, so it cannot protect one cat's food from another. The exact listing is white, “Regular,” F01, Amazon US listing—not the Wi-Fi F01W or a two-bowl model.
